November

The Eleventh Month of the Year

November is the eleventh month of the year in the Gregorian and Julian calendars. The word November is derived from the Latin word "Novem" which means nine. November was originally the ninth month in the Roman calendar but after two additional months, January and February, were added to the Julian calendar around 46 B.C., it became the eleventh month.

As one of the numbered months, the name November was not changed to reflect it's position on the calendar. It is one of four months that have 30 days.

The weather in November is cool in the northern hemisphere because it is an autumn month. In the southern hemisphere, it is equivalent to the month of may, which is warm because it is a spring month.
