Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Federal Student Aid is offered to students in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, and other stipends to help offset the costs of obtaining higher education for all eligible American students and their families.

Providing Federal Student Aid is, not only a way of helping students with their educational goals, but also a means of providing financial assistance to colleges, universities, and technical institutions that provide postsecondary education to those who aspire to get a degree.

The starting line for applying for Free Student Aid is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must fill out this application form and submit it to Federal Student Aid before the deadline of each year.

The Free Application for Free Student Aid form has been simplified over the years to make it easier to fill out and understand. Yet, unless you have been through the process before, it may still seem cumbersome, tedious, and a bit scary.

But that is not the way it is intended. Congress has approved simplification of the application process but since it is the largest source of student aid in the United States, there are many questions that still need to be answered and a various assortment of information and documentation that need to be provided.

To apply for Federal Pell Grants and for other government grants and stipends, you must fill out a FAFSA form. The easiest and fastest way is to apply online. You should start preparing well before the deadline.

Consult your financial aid representative at your high school or college to get up to date information and help with any questions that you may have in filling out your FAFSA application.
