Fashion Designers

The fashion industry is highly competitive and very lucrative.

Fashion designers are talented and versatile individuals who bring their ideas to life in the form of clothing, shoes, and accessories. Taking into account the social influences of the day, fashion designers usually develop clothing lines for upcoming seasons, which could run from a year to two or three years into the future.

Fashion designers have to plan extensively, anticipating the colors and styles of upcoming spring, summer, fall, and winter wear. Fashion designers must have an acute instinct for detecting ever changing trends in clothing styles. Those who succeed learn early on how to adjust and alter their styles to meet the demands of today's fashion conscious customers.

They must also keep a sharp eye on the competition. More than anything, it is the intense competition that drives the fashion industry. There are names in the field of fashion design that are very well known, some having been around for over a hundred years. Then there are designers who burst on to the scene and become overnight sensations. Some remain in the forefront of the fashion industry, while others quickly disappear from the fashion scene after a few seasons.

Most fashion designers never become famous, but their work can be seen on a daily basis for years. They spend their careers working for clothing manufacturers drawing and designing much of the fashion wear that is sold in department stores and specialty shops. The clothing they design is worn in households around the world, but the person who did the designing remains virtually unknown.

Fashion Designers have a mark on almost all accessories that make fashion what it is today. Aside from fashionable clothing, they design hand bags, sunglasses, jewelry, shoes, lipsticks, glosses, makeups, lotions, perfumes, colognes, and other fragrances, all sold under designer labels.

The fashion industry is a worldwide phenomenon, stretching from the New York City, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Venice, Tokyo, New Delhi, Florence, Chicago, Hong Kong, Singapore, Berlin, and Rio de Janeiro. accessories

Women's fashions are always in high demand, from evening gowns to hand bags to everyday wear like jeans and sweats.

Men are also fashion conscious. They shop for fashionable wear from the suits they wear, tuxedoes for evenings out, or slacks and shirts for the office, to everyday work clothes.

The clothing industry generates billions of dollars each year, and as long as there is a need for clothing and clothing accessories, there will be a need for fashion designers.
