Dolce and Gabbana

Dolce and Gabbana is a fashion design company, known around the world for it's sexy creations, especially among celebrities for there couture line and among the younger customers for their more relaxed DG collection.

Domenico Dolce was born in 1958 near Palermo, Sicily. He got his start designing fashions while working for his family's small clothing business. He studied fashion design in Sicily. Stefano Gabbana, born in Milan, Italy in 1962 is a graphic designer who had no formal training in fashion design.

Dolce and Gabbana met in 1980 and started working as a team in 1982 when they opened their first D&G studio. They gained recognition for their work in 1985 when they were invited to take part at the Milano Collezioni fashion show.

In 1986, Dolce and Gabbana launched their first fashion collection called "Real Woman" which received positive reviews in the fashion industry and won international praise.

In October of 1988, Dolce & Gabbana signed an agreement with Dolce Saverio, a clothing company owned by Dolce's family, giving the duo an opportunity to create and market the labels ready-to-wear line.

Dolce and Gabbana showcased their designs in Japan in 1989 where they opened their first boutique. In 1990 they launched their first men's collection and opened their first women's boutique in Milan.

Dolce & Gabbana gained fame by catering to celebrities around the world, designing evening gowns and outfits for hollywood stars like Nicole Kidman and Demi Moore.

In 1993, Dolce & Gabbana designed 1500 costumes for Madonna's world tour of 'The Girlie Show' and received the Wollmark Award for Best Fragrance of the Year.

In 1996, for the first time in history, the French award, "Oscar des Parfums" was given to an Italian fragrance, the Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme.

In May 1998, the Dolce and Gabbana label launched the new D&G Eyewear collection, and signed a deal to distribute their line in Japan with Onward Kashiyama. That same year, the company opened a flagship store on the Upper East Siden and a D&G shop in SoHo.

In 1999, Dolce and Gabbana exclusively designed clothes, costumes, and accessories for Whitney Houston's World Tour.

Dolce and Gabbana launched it's first west coast flagship in Beverly Hills in 2000 and released D&G Time, a line of designer watches. In 2001, D&G had their first fashion show near Milan.

In 2005, D&G teamed up with Motorola, and branded a gold limited addition RAZR V3i, which was exclusively sold only at D&G boutiques. In 2008, D&G opened a new boutique at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston.

Today, the Dolce and Gabbana brand is recognized around the world, with more than 75 retail outlets and thousands of online stores, featuring shoes, gowns, dresses, underwear, corsets and bra fastenings, pants and slacks, suits and coats, leather wear, scarves, eyewear, fragrances, jewelry, watches, sunglasses, and fashion accessories.

Dolce and Gabbana is known for making women look sexy, men look strong and manly, and their style is described as ideal for the young trend setters of the world. Their customers are seen as strong people who flaunt their sexuality. Many people consider Dolce and Gabbana their designer of choice because the company caters to people who desire clothing that match their individual personalities, colors, and styles.
